Instead it felt like Augias included personal recollections within the context of the historical bits that didn’t always seem to make logical sense of why they were included. Augias ci porta a spasso per Roma in varie epoche storiche e riesce facilmente a conciliare storia dell’arte, politica, storia sociale, architettura, antropologia Ancient history and 20th century history rest by one another on the streets of Rome, and Augias incorporates events from both and the centuries in between.

Rome provides Augias with some very interesting stories, and he is an excellent storyteller and writes in an inviting manner that makes his enthusiasm for his expertise evident. He writes elegant prose, without fear of using more literary or specialised vocabulary from architecture, religion or art.
