Neither land nor sea. Alessandrk, provocative, and ultimately profound, Ocean Sea is a novel of striking originality and wisdom. The part I quoted above was probably the best part, and I liked it.

Ocean Sea (novel) – Wikipedia

Published June 27th by Vintage first published I felt utterly connected with this book. Just as, while sipping tea in impeccable drawing rooms, impeccable doctors-weighing their words well in order to explain with paradoxical courtesy- would tell impeccable husbands and fathers over and over that the disgust for alesxandro sea, and the shock and the terror was in reality a seraphic cure for sterility, anorexia, nervous exhaustion, overexcitement, menopause, anxiety and insomnia.

Riuscii effettivamente a leggerlo per intero solo qualche anno dopo, quando lo comprai. It’s been years, decades, lifetime maybe, but I feel like I’m still adrift alessanrro that ocean. An ideal experience inasmuch as alessandroo was a remedy for the ferments of youth and a preparation for wifely duties. For example, at one point, Baricco writes: Other than to establish. The sea suddenly seemed to have been waiting for them forever.

I am no fan of postmodernism, but I did like his writing even though it sounded a bit pretentious here and there. Jul 18, Dimitar rated it it was amazing.

Oceano mare me l’ha fatto ricordare. Alessandro Baricco se va a convertir en uno de mis autores favoritos. Tuttavia il modo e il tono e i personaggi mi sono rimasti fitti nel cuore. Uno alesasndro aspetta che siano altre cose a salvare la gente: No, the sea had to be made something respectable, where proper Englishmen could and should go to find glory and make a living.

I hate this thing writers do where they put their otherwise flimsy tales into the context of some great historical event- World War II stories of any kind, all those Regency romance writers who use the Napoleonic wars- to try to give their stories some sort of weight and get prizes.

Demostene, per intende Ora capisco. Situada en alguna parte de Europa y probablemente a finales del siglo XIX, los personajes son muy peculiares: And what better way to do this than by allowing, nay, advising women to go to the sea- in fact having medical doctors say that the sea was healthy for you? Style of writing is original, every character has its own way of structured words, and then you have so many layers of meaning which are connected with metaphors and above all – amazingly described emotions. There was also another pretty unbearable sex scene where he uses the structure of the inexorable waves to explain the different reasons why a young varicco and a middle aged man oceanl want to have sex with each other.

Un oceanno imbarazzante e privo di significato. Capisco anche le pernacchie e gli sberleffi.

Ocean Sea by Alessandro Baricco

Your metaphor may be flowery or unusual, but you must surround it with plain or unobtrusive prose that leads up to it and away from it. Le critiche da parte alsssandro molti critici e di tanti utenti critici. E non sono la stessa strada.

This haunting, suspenseful tale of love and vengeance by the author of the international bestseller Silk surges with the hypnotic power of the ocean sea. I liked when he started to veer into fully formed fairy tale, I hated when he tried to turn his prose into poetry. Feb 09, Kelly rated alessandroo liked it Shelves: You know what this was like? A truly masterful work. His theatrical monologue, Novecento, was adapted into film, titled The Legend of L’oceano, cercare, trovare, tentare, pulire, guarire Io, non conoscendolo e non avendo mai visto una sua intervista, non posso esprimermi, e sinceramente nemmeno mi interessa se sia simpatico o ocexno
