The second storyline is between Robert and JD as we see their relationship as it is now and also see how it was through a series of flashbacks. Actually, everything that concerned Robet and JD was great. If I got it wrong, I apologize. Again, the characterization and the depiction of the characters’ relationships were better than the plot but then again these are so good that my minor quibbles about the plot really don’t matter.
That, it took them 15 years and the death of a young man to make them rehrogrado see each other and find a way to be together and happy. It was so hard reading the rough times Roberto and JD went through, and most of it was because they couldn’t stop and see what they were doing to each other. I lost count how many times they upset me to the point where I wanted to throw my Kindle against a wall. JD and Robert are a fifteen years retrohrado committed couple. This is like 3 stories in one.
It was more like 3. Riley tells us in flashbacks encompassing 15 years how JD and Robert first fell in love with each other, their initial romance, their tempestuous obsessive relationship, their love for each other and how ultimately, their relationship is eroded and destroyed by distrust and co-dependency. The mystery is convoluted and sinister, as Bill, his partner Kate, Robert, and JD bg to piece together the reasons why someone tried to kill JD and the attractive young man he was with that night.
Successful, workaholic attorney Robert gets a call from a hospital one night, informing him that his ex-lover, JD, a bestselling author, has been shot in a dance club parking lot.
I didn’t like either one of them, which ultimately spells doom for me.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. In this book the ‘big misunderstanding’ is very believable, these are two volatile characters that crash into each other with high emotions.
Project Gutenberg 0 editions. It’s what manages to pull off as painful but worth fighting for something that might otherwise come across as only dysfunctional.
I really wanted to know who the killer was. Not quite what I was expecting, but enjoyable all the same.

It’s the miracle Robert’s been hoping for. And here I didn’t find it. In the end, when I finish, I feel like I’ve been running a marathon. With at least four different viewpoints, a wealth of secondary characters, two concurrent plot lines as well as many themes alongside the mystery and romance, then ertrogrado book could have seemed overcrowded.

Notify me of new comments via email. Robert fetrogrado JD will not change. Overall a good solid read that has a solid story, and solid characters. Their romance is not fluffy, but is love and makes for an intense read.
Fact is, I enjoyed the riveting plot and writing, but Robert and JD’s characterizations and actions spoilt this book for me. They came together hot and wild, and fought the same way. He has bits of memories which tell him that he is in love with Robert, but doesn’t remember to have left him.
BOP86 About the book: I found the relationship between these intelligent but flawed men to be utterly compelling, even if I occasionally wanted to cringe from the way they treated each other.
The case couldn’t even drag me through, since I didn’t care for Kate or Bill.
