When I finished the last chapter I was so glad I’d read the book. While the book did slide a bit towards having people turn out to be “good guys” and “bad guys,” I think it’s not any more so than any political discussion; I’m sure most readers hate certain actual This book did a really good job duprai capturing the tensions involved in a refugee situation, especially one where there aren’t enough resources to go around — a better job, I think, than most adult books on the topic. The message is peace-keeping and war-avoiding though, so I guess I have a bit of leniency for the message-hammering.
It is highly exciting, it kept me reading with a heart that beat faster than usual, wanting to know how it all would end, feeling all the basic and even more complicated emotions in my heart as I went through the pages. Then, Ember’s people learn that they will be ejected lx the village in the middle of winter, which they had not understood.
The world is healing; things start to get better, but the worl I was afraid after the ending of City of Emberthe next books will lose the fantastic, gripping aura the first book has. Unfortunately, by then, things are spiraling out of control and it’s difficult genet see a viable resolution.
