I just wish we got to know more about why he was so See, I brckenbrough a special place in my heart for afterlife fiction, particularly comedic afterlife fiction, and do you know what? I admired her sacrifice sometimes and it hurt to see things through her point of view. But then again, I’ve never had a dog Still, the author managed to balance the truly hilarious with the heartbreaking, and that’s not an easy task.
People seeking for a refreshing, relevant and heavenly read will certainly devour this one! I highly highly recommend it!! You can’t let go or the last of them disappears. As for the plot, it kind of dragged out in the second half, but it was okay He has only 24 hours to keep her soul from disappearing forever and salvage his own last chance at rehabilitation.
Intervenyion you so much Martha! I thought it was cute and heartbreaking. I first spotted this in a bookstore and what really caught my brocckenbrough was how “divine” was spelled wrong.
Review: ‘Devine Intervention’ shows there’s life in afterlife
This footnote is in honor of Martha, whose footnotes might have been my favorite part. Kntervention concede that I am perhaps weepier about and more amused by reading than your average Joe. It’s awkward and sweet and sad, which I think is what high school is for a whole bunch of us.
View all 3 comments. Words are powerful, but they’re not actually magic. Oh, and the screenwriter is none other than the person who wrote MRS.
This was a solid 3. Knew it would be fun. Martha Brockenbrough’s young adult debut is a snarky but sweet tale of teen angels in training. The two are quite the odd couple. I wish I had a lobby of my own. But for readers who appreciate an apocryphal story line and wordsmithing, “Devine Intervention” is a little slice of heaven.
I also like the scene where Jerome visits his father in the middle of the night. That is such a good question.

So of course, Heidi’s upset and ends up taking a walk near a frozen pond. Either the plot summary on the back cover lied to me, or it gave merely the barest hint at what the book is actually about.
You need this book.
He’s capable of so much more than he thought. For the first time in intwrvention life, I feel I’m with my tribe, people who love books and stories and words as much as I do. He can’t swear, of course, so he substitutes euphemisms: Monday, November 19, Apocalypsies Love!
The characters are both relatable intfrvention lovable albeit quite flawed and the plot is extremely exciting and original. They must prove themselves by becoming a guardian angel to their assigned soul. Refresh and try again.
DEVINE INTERVENTION by Martha Brockenbrough | Kirkus Reviews
Read my review at: Ich muss gestehen, dass mir die Kapitel von Jerome besser gefallen haben, als die von Heidi. There was just a report out of Brigham Young University that carefully counted up the number of curse words in some young adult literature. Now obviously this isn’t in any way a ‘religious’ book, and is certainly not meant to be read as an exploration of what an afterlife might be like.
However the voice in her head is her best friend and is company in her loneliest moments.
From the first time someone says, ‘I don’t want to play with you. He’s more of an angel trainee, in heaven’s soul-rehabilitation program for wayward teens. Devine Intervention on the surface is a light read about a guardian angel in soul-rehab trying to help guide and protect a living soul and bfockenbrough hijinks that can occur.
The cover alone was enticing!
I would recommend Devine Intervention to readers who enjoy humorous paranormal books. If Jerome wasn’t there to have me cracking up, I’m sure I would be bawling my eyes out with her. He was extremely stupid, but that’s part of what made him so funny.
Jerome is a black sheep in reform after killing a cat while participating in underage drinking. Yet, he still changes for good thanks to the many years he mxrtha been around Heidi. This book is the perfect blend of funny and serious. It’s also got some really good advice and brockebrough rolled into it as well.
And it takes a whole lot of courage to do the things she did.
